What had once been a thriving and attractive community had for decades fallen into neglect with little to inspire trust and hope in the residents.  The first Jubilee staff members canvassed the neighborhood and invited children to an after school program.  Those optimistic first efforts have evolved into 12 years of comprehensive initiatives, dealing with every facet of community life to help children learn, adults be productive and families thrive.

Jubilee operates its programs for all ages out of 2 Habitat Houses  that together are called the community center.  Talented and experienced staff members deliver the programs.  Offering include afterschool and summer enrichment programs for children and teens; meals served four days a week; GED, Computer, Citizenship, and English classes for adults;  food distribution and social activities for seniors; special programs and celebrations for the entire community.  A five-acre park with playground and basketball court was developed adjacent to the community center.

Jubilee has been given a generous donation from T. Boone Pickens Foundation to build a new Jubilee Community Center and a new Jubilee Resource Center, which will house the Jubilee Community Prosecutor, a Dallas Police Department sub-station, and community meeting areas.  Construction is underway and the project is targeting a May 2010 completion.
