My name is LaSheryl Walker. I have a beautiful 14 year old daughter and a wonderful husband who are just as much a part of Jubilee as I am.  I have been employed with Jubilee since it’s inception in the fall of 1997.  Before my Jubilee life I worked as a Hair Stylist for 12 years. I enjoyed doing hair and made a good living at it but wanted to pursue another career.  I started going back to school and while in college I learned about the Americorp Program. It sounded like something I would enjoy so I joined and became a member.  My first placement site was Vickery Afterschool in North Dallas.  There I helped with homework, organized activities and helped supervise field trips.  I signed up for a second term and learned about the Jubilee Project.  Jubilee was looking for members to actually live onsite and help start their after school program.  I was accepted at Jubilee for my second term and since then I have truly enjoyed making a difference in the lives of the children and families of this community.  I lived in the house that has been recently demolished.  My plan was to do Americorp for my two years and move on, but I found the work I was doing to be a natural fit.  I have recently earned a BAAS from The University of North Texas.  I have worn many hats while at Jubilee from managing the day to day programs and center operations to working directly with children and families.  I have always been a people person and enjoyed making a difference in the lives of others, but working at the Jubilee Center helped me move to the next level of assisting others as well as realize what I wanted to do as a second career.  It has been a great journey learning and discovering my gift of being an advocate for children and families as well as working with the community at large.  I genuinely enjoy what I do.
