Overview The mission of Jubilee Park & Community Center (Jubilee) is to be a catalyst for community revitalization and enrichment in the Southeast Dallas/Fair Park neighborhood. The agency provides free multi-generational services to families living in the 62-block neighborhood of Jubilee Park and surrounding areas, a part of Dallas, which has long been under-resourced.

Founded in 1997, Jubilee has grown into a campus that includes a community center, resource center, Head Start facility, Early Head Start facility, senior housing complex, and a 3-acre park. We have also worked closely with residents to identify five key pillars that in form our work and reflect the community's greatest challenges and opportunities. Those pillars are Safety, Health, Housing, Education/Workforce, and Opportunity.

The Health and Wellness Associate is a part-time (29hr/week) position within the Jubilee Program Team, focused specifically on our Heath Pillar and responsible for helping residents build and/or maintain healthy habits, access high-quality health education, engage in interventions that prevent or manage chronic disease, and access health resources. In partnership with the Health and Wellness Manger and Coordinator, this individual will help build out Jubilee’s health and wellness programming and community partnerships.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities: **

  • Support execution of programs that will help improve the health and wellness of Jubilee’s children, adults and seniors
  • Expand and elevate existing disease management/disease prevention health programs (adult exercise classes, youth sports, nutrition and food programs)
  • Collaborate with Jubilee program staff to incorporate health and wellness activities into existing programs such as Out of School Time, Senior Program, etc.
  • Support and coordinate larger health events (annual Health Expo, Sport’s banquet, Community walks/runs)
  • Provide opportunities to educate residents about various health topics, prevention strategies and exercise opportunities
  • Build community relationships and attract new members to increase program participation
  • Support outreach and marketing efforts to promote health programs
  • Assist in oversight of facility and equipment
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Passionate about helping others improve their health and wellness; will approach position with a strength-based perspective that recognizes individual and community assets
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Creative and innovative; ability to think outside the box
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality; familiar with HIPAA guidelines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Goal-oriented and accountable: ability to set and achieve program objectives
  • Basic computer skills required; should be familiar with Microsoft Office and general knowledge of database entry.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others, work with volunteers, and a diverse community
  • Background in public health, community health, community engagement, or related field preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred

Afterschool Lead Teacher

Overview

The Afterschool Teacher is a part-time position part of Jubilee’s Out of School Time (OST) team. The Afterschool Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing appropriate instructional materials in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop to their full academic potential during the Jubilee’s Afterschool Program. The Afterschool Teacher teaches Monday – Friday from 2:30-6:30 PM (times subject to change) and reports to the Director of OST Programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver enrichment activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop and provide weekly lesson plans.
  • Provide homework assistance.
  • Maintain an environment conducive to learning where students feel safe.
  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Maintain time sheet.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Moderate standing, bending and lifting.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years working in a classroom or afterschool setting
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to prepare high quality lessons
  • Ability to instruct and manage afterschool students effectively
  • Ability to communicate efficiently
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
